LEAP INTO STEM CAMP

2019

ABOUT

LEAP INTO STEM CAMP

June 10th - June 13th

For the 2nd year in a row, LEAP is partnering with Judson ISD to provide a STEM Camp for 200 students. The camp is a 4-day interactive Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math learning experience. This experience is designed for Elementary and Middle School students who would benefit from a super fun introduction to jobs in some of the highest paid, most stable and most respected fields in the world.

Each day students will explore different topics, including:

  • The engineering design process and challenges facing the engineers of the future

  • The scientific method and exciting home science

  • Exploring coding and robotics challenges

  • Number Theory and 3D Modeling

  • Nature and How to Preserve It

Applications will be accepted from April 10th through May 10th. Application selections are based on a first come first served basis. Acceptance notification will be sent on May 17th. Accepted students along with parent/guardians, will attend a mandatory meeting. During this meeting we will cover basics of camp rules and expectations. We will also introduce our camp counselors and have parents sign student agreements. Failure to attend may result in student be unenrolled from the camp and the spot will be given to another student. This camp is located at Copperfield Elementary 7595 TX-1604 Loop in Converse, Texas. An optional breakfast will be served from 7:00am - 7:30am in the cafeteria. The camp will begin promptly at 7:30am and end at 3:00pm. Lunch and snacks will be provided at no charge. Please have students arrive by 7:30am and have them picked up no later than 3:30pm. Due to limited resources we are unable to make any exceptions.

Students who attend this camp will learn about robotics, drones, coding, and life sciences. We focus on Elementary and Middle school students because high schools have transitioned from general education to career pipelines. Another added benefit of this camp is that many of the high school students who have chosen STEM career pathways will be helping us lead the experience for the younger children. This will help them learn leadership and organizational skills in addition to giving them the satisfaction of helping the younger children. High school students can fill out the form to volunteer below!
