CEO & President of the Board
Kirk Murray is a founding member, and President for LEAP, a role in which he brings his unique blend of nonprofit experience with the Alamo Council for the Blind along with his passion for science, technology, engineering, and math prepared him to manage an organization that values education (STEM). He is responsible for mobilizing advocacy through broadening support to strengthen the community by providing relevant education and training opportunities to all demographics with a focus on STEM, professional training, and life skills.
Prior to beginning his career in the nonprofit arena, Kirk volunteered helping numerous community outreach programs over the last 17 years. He gleaned from his volunteering he wanted to focus his efforts, and this is when he transitioned to the Alamo Council for the Blind (ACB). Kirk worked with public and private sector officials advocating for the needs of the visually impaired. As the treasurer, Kirk was responsible for a 17,000 dollar budget that saw a ## percentage in funds due to his fundraising efforts. As a result, the ACB garnered four scholarships for visually impaired students. Through shared learning and advocacy, Kirk believes tremendous imporvements can be made in promoting STEM throughout the Alamo region that will have a lasting affect in the minds of our youth.
